However, you don’t have to let the winter blues keep you of the gym – or out of that bikini! By getting onboard with the right fitness program and setting some realistic goals, this spring and summer could be the time when you get into the best shape of your life.
How can you make it happen? Check out these four tips below, straight from the motivational masterminds on the Fitness Nation training team.
Don’t go it alone. Trying to accomplish your fitness goals all by yourself isn’t the right way to go. Enlist the help of your friends, family, partners, and fitness professionals. The more people you have joining you on this fitness journey, the more likely you will be to succeed – and the more fun you’ll have, too!
- Be realistic. Despite what you might have heard on late night TV, you won’t be able to lose 15 pounds in one week! Don’t set out trying to get supermodel-skinny. Instead, aim for realistic weight loss goals, and the general development of a healthy lifestyle and attitude.
- Try something new. If you’ve tried and failed on your fitness goals in the past, don’t just jump back into the same patterns. It might have been Einstein who first said that “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.” Try a new diet, a new gym, and a new routine if your previous efforts weren’t successful. Eventually, you’ll find a system that’s perfect for you.
- Have fun! While many people might associate working out with long boring runs or stressful weight lifting, it doesn’t have to be this way! For something more fun and exciting, give Zumba or Dance Fitness a try. And for a great way to relax and combine fitness with mental and spiritual growth, consider getting started with Yoga.
